Autoimmune Protocol (AIP)
-
What is AIP?
The Autoimmune Protocol is a science-based elimination and reintroduction diet and lifestyle protocol. It focuses on repairing gut health, balancing hormones, and regulating the immune system in order to create homeostasis.
The dietary aspect refers to removing food-driven sources of inflammation and restoring nutrient density, while lifestyle includes addressing sleep, stress management, movement, and your connections, in order to best manage autoimmune diseases. It has been used successfully alone or in combination with conventional treatments, depending on a person’s needs.

What is the process for the dietary aspect of AIP?
There are two phases, elimination and reintroduction. The time on the AIP protocol depends on the severity of your disease, your compliance, and the method chosen for elimination. Most can expect about a 6 month process but for some it could take a year or longer, however results can be noticed as early as a few weeks. The long term goal is to maintain no more food restrictions than is necessary for your personal best health so that you can enjoy a healthy relationship with food.

What is the process for the lifestyle aspect of AIP?
Just as with the dietary portion of AIP, the lifestyle portion is scientifically driven as to which lifestyle aspects are most important to focus on to best manage your autoimmune disease or symptoms. In order of importance, sleep management, stress management, movement, and connection are the lifestyle aspects that we will be focusing on.
